A young woman, Hitomi (Takako Tokiwa), is deeply saddened and unable to recover from the pain of losing her fiancé Tatsuya in a car accident. She lives each day under the shadow of sorrow, until she encounters a young man named Karbo (Leslie Cheung) in Hong Kong, who bears a striking resemblance to Tatsuya. This meeting rekindles beautiful hopes in her heart.

Karbo is an outstanding police officer, but his girlfriend suffered from his obsession with his work, feeling constantly neglected, which ultimately led her to commit suicide. Tormented by pain, Karbo can only numb and punish himself by devoting himself even more obsessively to his work.

When these two people, both wounded by love, meet, a brilliant spark of passion is ignited between them.
